1. Reprimand 2. Effective October 4, 2012 The respondent filed an answer to the formal complaint and appeared at the hearings. The parties filed a stipulation for a finding of misconduct, which was accepted by the hearing panel. Based on respondent's plea of no contest, the panel found that respondent's conduct violated MRPC 1.7(b)(1), in that a lawyer could not reasonably believe that the representation in the underlying divorce case might not be adversely affected by the lawyer's personal interests.
The panel ordered that respondent be reprimanded and pay costs in the amount of $2,468.11.
