Interim Suspension Effective June 7, 2012
On May 11, 2012, respondent filed a motion to adjourn the hearing scheduled for May 15, 2012, stating that he would be unable to appear because he had a trial scheduled before Judge Edwards of the Wayne County Circuit Court. The panel denied respondent's motion, without
prejudice, on May 14, 2012, because respondent did not provide any documentary evidence substantiating his need to appear before Judge Edwards, but gave respondent the opportunity to file further documentation from the Wayne County Circuit Court and/or Judge Edwards substantiating his claim that he will be engaged in trial in that court on May 15, 2012.
Respondent did not file further documentation, nor did he appear at the May 15, 2012 hearing. Pursuant to MCR 9.115(H)(1), the hearing panel issued an order suspending respondent's license to practice law, effective June 7, 2012, and until further order of the panel or the Board.
