FINAL NOTICE OF SUSPENSION WITH CONDITIONS (By Consent)

Case Nos. 11-118-AI; 11-139-JC Notice Issued: March 9, 2012 John J. Griffin, III, P 45730, Grand Haven, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board Kent County Hearing Panel #5.

1. Suspension - 179 Days 2. Effective November 14, 2011 1 Respondent was convicted of one count of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing injury, a felony, in violation of MCL 257.625(5). In accordance with MCR 9.120(B)(1), . respondent's license to practice law in Michigan is suspended effective October 3,2011, the date of his felony conviction. The Grievance Administrator filed a judgment of conviction on December 9,2011.

On December 27, 2011, the parties filed a stipulation for consent order of discipline which contained respondent's admission that he was convicted of the felony of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing injury, contrary to MCL 257.625(5). Respondent's conduct was in violation of MCR 9.1 04(A)(5) - conduct that violates a criminal law of a state or of the United States.

Based upon the stipulation, the hearing panel ordered that respondent's license to practice lawin Michigan be suspended for 179 days, retroactive to November 14,2011, the date respondent was sentenced. The panel also ordered that respondent be subject to conditions relevant to the established misconduct. Costs were assessed in the amount of $779.26.
