NOTICE OF SUSPENSION WITH CONDITIONS (By Consent)

Case Nos. 11-48-AI; 11-72-JC Notice Issued: September 6, 2011

Nina Marie Backon, P 63047, Farmington Hills, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #72.

1. Suspension - 180 Days 2. Effective May 1,2011 1 Respondent pleaded guilty to Furnishing Contraband to a Prisoner, contrary to MCL 801.263(1), a felony; Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance, contrary to MCL 333.7401 (2), a felony; and Possession of Marijuana, contrary to MCL 333.7403, a misdemeanor. In accordance with MCR 9.120(B)(1), respondent's license to practice law in Michigan is suspended effective April 6, 2011, the date of her felony convictions. Respondent's conduct was in violation of MCR 9.104(A)(5).

Based upon the stipulation of the parties, the hearing panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law in Michigan be suspended for 180 days, retroactive to May 1, 2011. Additionally, the panel ordered that respondent shall be subject to specific conditions relevant to the admitted misconduct. Costs were assessed in the amount of $795.26.
