1. Revocation 2. Effective April 28, 2011 1 Respondent did not appear at the hearing and was in default for failing to timely file an answer to the formal complaint. Based on that default, the hearing panel found that respondent, while suspended from the practice of law in Michigan, accepted retainer fees from clients; failed to notify his clients or tribunals that his license had been suspended; neglected his clients' matters; failed to refund unearned fees; and failed to file answers to six requests for investigation served upon him by the Grievance Administrator.
Respondent's conduct was in violation of MCR 9.104(A)(1)-(4), (6), (7) and (9); MCR 9.119(A)(1 )-(6), (B), (D), (E)(1 )-(3), and (F); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1 (c);
1.16(d); 5.5(a); 8.1 (a)(2); and 8.4(a)-(c).
The panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law in Michigan be revoked and that he pay restitution in the aggregate amount of $10,200.00. Costs were assessed in the amount of $2,558.90.
