NOTICE OF DISBARMENT Case No. 11-62-JC Notice Issued: March 26, 2012

James R. Phillips, P 18874, East Lansing, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board, affirming Ingham County Hearing Panel #1's order of disbarment.

1. Disbarment 2. Effective December 20,20101 Respondent was convicted, by guilty plea, for possession of child pornography, in violation of 18 USC §2252A(a)(5)(B), a felony, in the U.S. District Court, Central District of California.

A discipline proceeding was instituted by the Grievance Administrator in accordance with MCR 9.120(B)(3). On September 23, 2011, the hearing panel found that, based on his felony conviction, respondent had committed professional misconduct that violates a criminal law of a state or of the United States, contrary to MCR 9.1 04(A)(5).

The panel ordered that respondent be disbarred from the practice of law in Michigan, retroactive to December 20,2010, the date of his felony conviction. Respondent filed a petition for review and, on February 22, 2012, the Attorney Discipline Board issued its order and opinion affirming the hearing panel's order of disbarment. Total costs were assessed in the amount of $1,896.41
