Suspension - One Year Effective October 2, 20101

Respondent did not appear at the hearing and was found to be in default for failing to file an answer to the formal complaint. Based on respondent's default, the panel found that respondent, in a divorce matter, neglected the matter; failed to act with reasonable diligence and promptness; failed to keep her client reasonably informed and comply promptly with reasonable requests for information; and failed to explain a matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit her client to make informed decisions regarding the representation. Respondent also failed to respond to a request for investigation served upon her by the Grievance Administrator

Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.104(A)(1)-(4) and (7); MCR 9.113, and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.3; 1.4(a) and (b); 8.1 (a)(2); and 8.4(a) and (c).

The panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law in Michigan be suspended for one year and that she pay restitution in the amount of $2,500.00. The panel also ordered that respondent shall be subject to conditions relevant to the established misconduct. Costs were assessed in the amount of $1 ,966.94.
