NOTICE OF SUSPENSION AND RESTITUTION WITH CONDITIONS (By Consent)

Case No. 08-131-GA Notice Issued: July 22, 2009 George M. Betts, P 54766, Okeechobee, Florida, by the Attorney Discipline Board Ingham County Hearing Panel #7.

1. Suspension - 90 Days 2. Effective July 21 , 2009 The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for a consent order of discipline, in accordance with MCR 9.115(F)(5), which was approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission and accepted by the hearing panel. Respondent pled no contest to the allegations that he failed to seek the lawful objectives of his clients; failed to act with reasonable diligence and promptness in representing his clients; failed to keep his clients reasonably informed about the status of their matters; and failed to promptly comply with reasonable requests for information, in violation of MCR 9.1 04(A)(2); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4(a); and 8.4(a).

Pursuant to the agreement of the parties, the hearing panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law in Michigan be suspended for 90 days and that he pay restitution in the amount of $1,500.00. The panel also ordered that respondent be subject to conditions relevant to the alleged misconduct. Total costs were assessed in the amount of $769.74.
