NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case No. 08-135-RD Notice Issued: December 16,2008
Robert E. Jones, P 31661, Allen Park, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #21.
1. Suspension - 2 Years 2. Effective December 11, 2008 In an order entered September 2, 2008, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan suspended respondent, Robert E. Jones, from the practice of law before the United States District Court and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan for a period of two years. In accordance with MCR 9.1 04(B), the hearing panel concluded that the order of the United StatssDistrict Court constituted conclusive proof of misconduct; that respondent was afforded due process of law in the course of the original proceeding; and that the imposition of identical discipline in Michigan would not be clearly inappropriate.
On November 19, 2008, the hearing panel ordered the suspension of respondent's license to practice law in Michigan for a period of two years, commencing December 11 ,2008. Because the reciprocal discipline proceeding is consolidated with the pending matter of Grievance Administrator v Robert E. Jones, ADB Case No. 08-07-GA, the order of suspension was entered on an interim basis pending the panel's decision on the charges of misconduct in the consolidated matter and, if applicable, the panel's determination of an appropriate sanction for the misconduct charged in that case. Costs in accordance with MCR 9.128 will be assessed in the hearing panel's final order.
