1. Revocation 2. Effective October 15,2008 The respondent filed an ansWer to the formal complaint but failed to appear at the hearing. At the hearing, the panel found that respondent neglected his client's legal matter; failed to act with reasonable diligence and promptness on behalf of his client; failed to keep his client reasonably informed about the status of his matter; failed to comply promptly and reasonably with reasonable requests for information; failed to refund any advance payment of a lega'i fee that had not been earned; and failed to file an answer to a request for investigation.
Respondent's conduct was in violation of MCR ,9.1 04(A)(2)-(4) and (7); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1 (c); 1.3; 1.4(a); 1.16(d); 8.1 (a)(2); and 8.4(a).
The hearing panel ordered that respondent's license to practice in Michigan be revoked and that he pay restitution in the amount of $500.00..Costs were assessed in the amount of $1 ,788.22.
