NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case No. 07-124-GA Notice Issued: August 20, 2008 David C. Peters, II, P 48648, Livonia, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #13.
1. Suspension - 60 Days 2. Effective August 16, 2008 Respondent filed an answer and appeared at the hearings. The hearing panel found that respondent failed to keep his client reasonably informed about the status of his case; failed to accept responsibility for his failure to provide adequate notice to his client of a court date; misrepresented to another attorney that he had authority to settle his client's case; and failed to abide by his client's decision not to settle the case for less than $9,000.00. Respondent's conduct was in violation of MCR 9.1 04(A)(2) and (3); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.2(a); 1.4(a); 4.1; and 8.4(a).
The panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law in Michigan be suspended for 60 days and assessed costs in the amount of $2,325.50.
