1. Suspension - 18 Months 2. Effective March 13, 2007 1 The respondent failed to appear at the hearing and was found to be in default for his failure to file an answer to the formal complaint. Based on that default, the panel found that respondent wrote a check fora filing fee in Wayne County Circuit Court which was returned for non-sufficient funds and that, to date, respondent has never paid Wayne County Circuit Court for the returned check. Additionally, the panel found that respondent failed to maintain sufficient funds in his IOlTA
account; knowingly disobeyed an obligation under the rules ofa tribunal; and failed to file an answer to a request for investigation served upon him by the Grievance Administrator.
Respondent's conduct was in violation of MCR 9.1 04(A)(1 )-(5) and (7); MCR 9.113(A) and (8)(2); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 3.4(c); 8.1 (a)(2); and 8.4(a) and (c).
The panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law be suspended for 18 months, to run concurrently with the suspension issued in Grievance Administrator v Walter W. Halmagy, Case No. 06-95-GA, which was effective March 13, 2007. The panel also imposed a condition relevant to the established misconduct. Costs were assessed in the amount of $1 ,828.62.
