NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case No. 07-99-GA Notice Issued: January 16, 2008 Patrick S. Mason, P 64860, Toledo, Ohio, by the Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #27.

1. Suspension - 180 Days 2. Effective January 8,2008 The respondent failed to appear at the hearing and was found to be in default for his failure to file an answer to the formal complaint. The panel specifically found that, because respondent had not denied the allegations, he had committed professional misconduct as alleged in the formal complaint. Specifically, that respondent neglected a legal matter; failed to seek the lawful objectives of his client; failed to act with reasonable diligence and promptness; failed to keep a client reasonably informed about the status of his matter; failed to refund an unearned fee; failed to return client property; engaged in the practice of law in a jurisdiction where doing so violated the regulation of the legal profession in the jurisdiction; failed to properly notify the court, the prosecutor and client of his disqualification from the practice of law; engaged in conduct that is prejudicial to the administration ofjustice; engaged in conduct that exposed the legal profession or the courts to obloquy, contempt, censure or reproach; engaged in conduct that is contrary to justice, ethics, honesty, or good morals; and failed to answer a request for investigation served upon him by the Grievance Administrator.

The panel found that respondent's conduct was in violation of Michigan Court Rules 9.1 04(A)(1 )-(4) and (7); 9.113(A) and (B); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1 (c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4(a); 1.16(d); 5.5(a); 8.1 (a)(2); and 8.4(a) and (c).

The hearing panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law in Michigan be suspended for 180 days. Costs were assessed in the total amount of $1 ,702.52.
