NOTICE OF SUSPENSION WITH RESTITUTION Case No. 06-138-GA Notice Issued: November 21, 2007 Kerry Leon Jackson, P 41971, Detroit, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #10.

1. Suspension - 75 Days 2. Effective November 20, 2007 The respondent appeared at the hearing but was found to be in default for his failure to file an answer to the formal complaint. Based on that default, the panel found that respondent, in a habeas corpus action, neglected the matter; failed to seek the lawful objectives of his client; failed

to act with reasonable diligence and promptness; failed to keep his client reasonably informed of the status of the matter; failed to explain the matter to his client to the extent necessary to permit his client to make informed decisions regarding the representations; and failed to refund an

unearned fee; failed to return the client file. Additionally, in a criminal matter, respondent neglected the matter; failed to seek the lawful objectives of his client; failed to act with reasonable diligence and promptness; failed to keep his client reasonably informed ofthe status of the matter; and failed to explain the mater to his client to the extent necessary to permit the client to make informed decisions regarding the representation. Finally, respondent failed to file answers to four requests for investigation served upon him by the Grievance Administrator.

Respondent's conduct was in violation of Michigan Court Rules 9.104(A)(1)-(4) and (7); 9.113(A) and (B)(2); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1 (c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4(a) and (b); 1.16(d); 8.1 (a)(2); and 8.4(a) and (c).

The panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law in Michigan be suspended for 75 days and that he pay restitution in the amountof$1 ,500.00. Costs were assessed in the amount of $2,660.02.
