NOTICE OF REPRIMAND WITH CONDITIONS (By Consent)

Case No. 07-51-GA Notice Issued: September 18, 2007 Gary R. Baldwin, P 30150, Clinton, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board Ingham County Hearing Panel #8.

1. Reprimand 2. Effective September 11, 2007 The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for a consent order of discipline, in accordance with MCR 9.115(F)(5), which was approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission and accepted by the hearing panel. Respondent admitted that he prepared an amendment to a revocable living trust for a client which called for distribution of a total of 40% of the principal and income of the trust to respondent, his parents, and respondent's three children, in violation of MRPC 1.8(c), which prohibits a lawyer from preparing an instrument giving the lawyer, or close relatives of the lawyer, any substantial testamentary gift unless the client is related

to the donee.

The parties stipulated that respondent should be reprimanded and that he be subject to conditions relevant to the admitted misconduct, including waiver of all interest in his former client's

estate. Costs were assessed in the amount of $755.36.
