Lawrence J. Bunting, P 271 11, Troy, Michigan by the Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #58. 1. Reprimand 2. Effective May 22, 2007 The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for a consent order of discipline containing respondent's admissions that he handled legal matters which he should have known he was not competent to handle, without associating with a lawyer who is competent to handle them; handled legal matters without preparation adequate in the circumstances; neglected the legal matters; failed to seek the lawful objectives of his clients; failed to act with reasonable diligence and promptness; and failed to keep his clients reasonably informed of the status of a matter. Respondent also admitted that his conduct was a violation of the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct; is prejudicial to the administration of justice; exposed the legal profession or the courts to obloquy, contempt, censure, or reproach; and was contrary to justice. Respondent was charged with violations of MCR 9.104(A)(I )-(4); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct I.I( a)-(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4(a); and 8.4(a) and (c). In accordance with the stipulation, which was approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission, the panel ordered that respondent be reprimanded. Costs were assessed in the amount of $929.35.
