NOTICE OF REPRIMAND WITH CONDITIONS (By Consent)

1. Reprimand 2. Effective September 28, 2005 The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for a consent order of discipline, in accordance with MCR 9.115(F)(5), containing respondent=s plea of no contest that, in an adoption matter, he neglected the matter; failed to keep his client reasonably informed regarding the status of the matter; failed to perform his duties as required by the Probate Code and/or by the ordinary and customary practice in adoption matters; handled an adoption matter which he knew or should have known that he was not competent to handle, without associating with a lawyer who is competent to handle adoptions; handled an adoption without preparation adequate in the circumstances; and failed to make reasonable efforts to supervise a nonlawyer employee.

Respondent was charged with violations of MCR 9.104(A)(2) and (4); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(a)-(c); 1.4(a); 5.3(b); and 8.4(a) and (b).

The parties agreed that respondent should be reprimanded with conditions relevant to the alleged misconduct. Costs were assessed in the amount of $1,144.89.
