1. Reprimand 2. Effective December 22, 2004 The hearing panel found that respondent engaged in the unauthorized practice of law by appearing on the record in a criminal action in the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan and by signing a plea agreement in the criminal action as attorney for the defendant. The panel also found that respondent failed to take appropriate steps to become admitted to that jurisdiction at the time of his appearance in late 2002, although respondent was later admitted to practice in that jurisdiction on November 6, 2003 and was at all times licensed to practice law in Michigan.
Respondent=s conduct was in violation of Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 3.3(a)(1); 3.4(c); 4.1; 5.5(a); and 8.4(a).
The panel ordered that respondent be reprimanded. The Grievance Administrator filed a petition for review which was later withdrawn. Costs were assessed in the amount of $2,078.49.
