1. Suspension - 3 Years 2. Effective August 9, 2004 In connection with the dissolution of a law partnership, the respondent placed the sum of $5,000.00 in a joint bank account which required the signatures of respondent and his former partner for any withdrawal. Without the partner=s knowledge or consent,
respondent attempted to withdraw the entire amount by signing his former partner=s name to the withdrawal slip and representing to the
bank teller that the signature was valid.
Based on respondent=s misdemeanor convictions of Larceny $200-$1,000, in violation of MCL 750.3564A; and False Pretenses $200 - $1,000, in violation of MCL 750.2183A, the hearing panel ordered that respondent=s license to practice in Michigan be suspended for
three years, effective April 21, 2004, the date of respondent=s conviction.
The respondent filed a timely petition for review and the Grievance Administrator filed a cross-petition for review. A review hearing was held on July 21, 2005 and on September 19, 2005, the Board issued an order modifying the hearing panel=s order
of suspension as to the effective date of suspension only. Total costs were assessed in the amount of $2,368.46.
