1. Suspension - 30 Days 2. Effective October 30, 2004 1 The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for a consent order of discipline containing respondent=s plea of nolo contendere to the allegations that she charged and collected excessive fees in two matters; and improperly asserted a lien on the proceeds of her client=s medical malpractice action without the client=s consent in writing. Respondent was charged with violations of MCR 9.104(A)(1)-(4); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.5(a); 1.8(a)(3); and 8.4(a) and (c).
The parties agreed that respondent should be suspended for 30 days effective October 30, 2004; pay restitution in the aggregate amount of $3,000.00; and attend the State Bar Ethics School. Costs were assessed in the amount of $842.10.
