NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case Nos. 19-84-JC 19-85-GA Notice Issued: April 14, 2020 Kathryn A. McCarthy, P 42003, Ann Arbor, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board Washtenaw County Hearing Panel #3

Suspension - 180 Days, Effective April 4, 2020 1 Respondent was convicted of operating while intoxicated, 2 nd offense, a misdemeanor, in violation of MCL 257.6256B, in a matter titled State of Michigan v Kathryn Ann McCarthy, Case No. 16-S-01126-SD. Additionally, based on respondent’s default for failing to answer the formal complaint, the hearing panel found that respondent committed professional misconduct, as charged in the formal complaint, when she failed to report her misdemeanor conviction within 14 days to the Attorney Grievance Commission and to the Attorney Discipline Board.

The panel found that respondent engaged in conduct that violated a criminal law of a state or of the United States, an ordinance, or tribal law pursuant to MCR 2.615, in violation of MCR 9.104(5); and failed to report her conviction, as described above, in violation of MCR 9.120(A) and (B). Respondent was also found to have violated MCR 9.104(1) and (4); and MRPC 8.4(a) and (c).

The panel ordered that respondent’s license to practice law be suspended for a period of 180 days. Costs were assessed in the amount of $1,739.59.
