Effective April 3, 2004 1 Based on respondent=s default for failure to file an answer to the formal complaint and failure to appear at the public hearings, the hearing panel found that respondent failed to act with diligence; abandoned legal matters entrusted to him; failed to return unearned fees; misrepresented the status of matters for three separate clients; practiced while suspended; failed to notify clients of his suspension; and failed to answer requests for investigation.
Respondent=s conduct was in violation of MCR 9.104(A)(1)-(4) and (7); MCR 9.113(A) and (B)(2); MCR 9.119; and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.3; 1.4(a); 1.5(a); 1.16(d); 5.5(a); 8.1(a)(2); and 8.4(a)-(c). The hearing panel ordered that respondent=s license to practice law in Michigan be revoked and that he pay restitution in the aggregate amount of $6,500.00. Costs were assessed in the amount of $1,787.18.
