Effective March 25, 2004 1 Based on respondent=s default for failure to file an answer to the formal complaint and failure to appear at the public hearings, the hearing panel found that respondent neglected the matters of eight clients; lied to the Grievance Administrator when he stated that he refunded money to one of those clients; failed to notify his active clients, opposing counsel, and tribunals of his suspension from the practice of law; failed to file an affidavit of compliance with the Attorney Grievance Commission and the Attorney Discipline Board in accordance with MCR 9.119; and failed to file answers to eight requests for investigation and a formal complaint served upon him by the Grievance Administrator.
Respondent=s conduct was in violation of MCR 9.104(A)(1)-(4), (6), (7) and (9); MCR 9.113(A) and (B)(2); MCR 9.119(A)-(C); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4(a) and (b); 1.5(a); 1.7(a) and (b); 1.16(d); 8.1(a)(2); and 8.4(a)-(c). The panel ordered that respondent=s license to practice law in Michigan be revoked and that he pay restitution in the aggregate amount of $6,870.00. Costs were assessed in the amount of $2,514.16.
