NOTICE OF DISBARMENT Case No. 19-126-GA Notice Issued: March 30, 2020 Lila Sljivar, P 64301, New York, New York, by the Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #2.

Disbarment, Effective March 19, 2020 1 Based on respondent’s default and the evidence presented at the hearing, the hearing panel found that respondent committed professional misconduct in her representation of a client in an asylum petition. Specifically, the hearing panel found that respondent relocated her office without advising her client of her new office location; failed to communicate with her client; failed to notify her client of a court date; failed to advise the client that she had filed documents on his behalf; the client being unaware that he had a court date, failed to appear at his hearing, which resulted in the entry of an order for his removal from the United States; abandoned the representation of her client; and failed to answer a request for investigation.

The panel found that respondent neglected a legal matter entrusted to her, in violation of MRPC 1.1(c); failed to seek the lawful objectives of a client, in violation of MRPC 1.2(a); failed to keep her client reasonably informed about the status of his matter or comply promptly with his reasonable requests for information, in violation of MRPC 1.4(a); failed to give reasonable notice, return papers and property, return an unearned fee, or take other actions to protect her client’s interests upon termination of representation, in violation of MRPC 1.16(d); and respondent failed to answer a request for investigation within the time prescribed, in violation of MCR 9.104(7), MCR 9.113(A), and MCR 9.113(B)(2). Respondent was also found to have violated MCR 9.104(1)-(3); and MRPC 8.4(c).

The panel ordered that respondent be disbarred from the practice of law in Michigan. Costs were assessed in the amount of $1,678.14.
