On September 9, 2003, respondent pled guilty to Immigration Fraud, a felony, in violation of 18 U.S.C. ' 1546(a), in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. In accordance with MCR 9.120(B)(1), respondent=s license to practice law in Michigan was automatically suspended on the date of that felony conviction.
On March 1, 2004, the Grievance Administrator filed a certified copy of the judgment of conviction pursuant to MCR 9.120(B)(3). In accordance with that rule, the Attorney Discipline Board ordered respondent to show cause why a final order of discipline should not be entered. Based on respondent's conviction, the Grievance Administrator and respondent submitted a stipulation for consent order of discipline, in accordance with MCR 9.115(F)(5), revoking respondent's license to practice law in Michigan. The stipulation was approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission and was accepted by the hearing panel. Costs were assessed in the amount of $768.60.
