1. Suspension - 180 Days; 2. Effective July 1, 2003. 1 The hearing panel found, by default, that respondent abandoned a client=s matter; failed to return a $1,500.00 retainer; and failed to file an answer to the Grievance Administrator=s request for investigation and formal complaint. Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.104(A)(1)-(4) and (7); MCR 9.113(A); MCR 9.113(B)(2); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4(a) and (b); 1.16(d); 8.1(b); and 8.4(a) and (c). The panel issued an order suspending respondent's license to practice in Michigan for 180 days and ordered restitution in the amount of $1,500.00. Costs were assessed in the amount of $1,698.49.
