The hearing panel found, by default, that respondent, in a divorce matter, failed to submit an order regarding custody, visitation, and child support to the court, as required by the court at a hearing; failed to take any further action on behalf of his client after that court hearing; and abandoned the representation of his client. Respondent also failed to file an answer to a request for investigation served by the Grievance Administrator. Respondent=s conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.104(A)(1)-(4) and (7); MCR 9.113(A) and (B)(2); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4(a); 8.1(a)(2); and 8.4(a) and (c).
The hearing panel ordered that respondent=s license be suspended for two years and that he pay restitution in the amount of $400.00. Costs were assessed in the amount of $1,696.46.
