1. Suspension - 180 days. 2. Effective June 5, 2003 1 The hearing panel found that respondent had committed professional misconduct, specifically: That respondent, after his license to practice law had been revoked, held himself out as an attorney and engaged in the practice of law; failed to return an unearned fee and client file in a wrongful discharge matter; and made false statements to his client and a third party regarding material facts of the matter. Respondent=s conduct was in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4) and (9); MCR 9.119(A and (E); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.4(a) and (b); 1.5(a); 1.15(b); 1.16(d); 4.1; and 8.4(a)-(c).
The hearing panel ordered that respondent=s license be suspended for 180 days. Respondent was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $2,500.00. Costs were assessed in the amount of $238.67.
