NOTICE OF REPRIMAND AND RESTITUTION (By Consent)

1. Reprimand; 2. Effective April 30, 2003; The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for a consent order of discipline, in accordance with MCR 9.115(F)(5), containing respondent=s admission to the allegations that he accepted the representation of a client regarding post-appeal relief from the criminal conviction arising from his plea, which was made before respondent as the presiding judge in the underlying criminal matter; and accepted the representation without obtaining the consent of the parties after consultation
Respondent was charged with violations of MCR 9.104(A)(1)-(4); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.12(a); and 8.4(a) and (c). The parties agreed that respondent should be reprimanded and pay restitution in the amount of $5,000.00. Costs were assessed in the amount of $760.68.
