NOTICE OF SUSPENSION (By Consent)
Case No. 01-87-GA Notice Issued: May 1, 2002 Terry M. Williams, P-37545, Detroit,, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #12.
1. Suspension - 180 Days; 2. Effective May 1, 2002. The respondent and the Grievance Administrator filed a stipulation for a consent order of discipline in accordance with MCR 9.115(F)(5). The stipulation was approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission and accepted by the hearing panel. Respondent pled no contest to allegations that, in a divorce matter, she commingled the funds entrusted to her by her client; and failed to maintain bank records for her IOLTA account. Also, respondent pled no contest to the allegations that, in a civil matter, she failed to advise the opposing party and the court of her suspension from the practice of law. Respondent further pled no contest to the allegations that she falsely asserted that she had corrected her IOLTA account practice; and falsely asserted in her affidavit of compliance that she was in compliance with the conditions of her suspension.
Respondent was charged with violations of MCR 9.104(A)(1)-(4), and (9); MCR 9.119(B); MCR 9.123(A); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.15(a); 8.1(a); and 8.4(a)-(c). The parties stipulated to the entry of an order suspending respondent=s license to practice law for 180 days. Costs were assessed in the amount of $335.77.
