1. Reprimand; 2. Effective December 20, 2001. The hearing panel found by default that respondent had, with the exception of limited actions taken in August and October 1997, abandoned the representation of his client. Respondent's conduct was in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4(a) and (b); 1.16(a) and (d); 3.2; and 8.4(a) and (c).
The panel reprimanded respondent and ordered that he execute and submit a promissory note for restitution in an amount and terms acceptable to the complainant. Costs were assessed in the amount of $1,727.39.
