NOTICE OF SUSPENSION (With Condition)

Case No. 01-54-GA Notice Issued: August 2, 2001 Jonathan M. Hilts, P-31435, Dearborn, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #19.

1. Suspension - 240 Days; 2. Effective July 31, 2001 The hearing panel found that respondent had committed professional misconduct as alleged in Formal Complaint 01-54-GA, specifically: That in a personal injury case, respondent made numerous false statements to his client regarding the status of her case; and delayed in filing a lawsuit on his client's behalf for almost two years. Respondent also failed to file an answer to Formal Complaint 01-54-GA. Respondent's conduct was in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4) and (7); MCR 9.113(A); MCR 9.113(B)(2); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.3; 1.4(a); 3.2; 8.1(b); and 8.4(a)-(c).

The hearing panel ordered that respondent=s license be suspended for 240 days and imposed a condition relevant to the established misconduct. Costs were assessed in the amount of $195.56.
