NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case No. 99-178-GA Notice Issued: September 19, 2001 Brenda K. Sanders, P-37845, Detroit, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board affirming an order of suspension by Tri-County Hearing Panel #27.

1. Suspension - 60 days. 2. Effective September 19, 2001. The hearing panel found that respondent had committed acts of professional misconduct warranting discipline, specifically: That respondent signed her clients' names to an affidavit without their consent or knowledge; caused the affidavit to be notarized by someone who was not a registered notary; and knowingly made a false statement in her response to the Grievance Administrator's Request for Investigation. Respondent's conduct was in violation of MCR 9.103(C); 9.104(1)-(5); MCR 9.113(A); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 3.3(a)(1) and (4); 3.4(b); 8.1(a); and 8.4(a)-(c).

The hearing panel ordered that respondent=s license be suspended for 60 days. The respondent filed a petition for review and a review hearing was held before the Attorney Discipline Board. On March 30, 2001, the Board issued an order affirming the hearing panel's order of suspension. On April 20, 2001, the respondent filed an application for leave to appeal with the Supreme Court. On August 28, 2001, the Supreme Court denied respondent's application for leave to appeal and stayed the effective date of discipline for 21 days. Costs were assessed in the amount of $1,415.21.
