NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case Nos. 00-72-GA; 00-91-FA Notice Issued: June 6, 2001 Patricia J. Dockery, P-44725, Detroit, Michigan by the Attorney Discipline Board increasing discipline from a 180 day suspension issued by Tri-County Hearing Panel #13.
1) Suspension - 3 Years; 2) Effective November 30, 2000. The hearing panel found that the allegations in the formal complaints were established by default, specifically: That respondent misappropriated funds belonging to her client; failed to maintain reasonable communication with her client or to respond to her inquiries regarding the status of her matter; and failed to file an answer to Formal Complaint 00-72-GA. Respondent=s conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4) and (7); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4; 1.15(a)-(c); 1.16(d); 8.1(b); and 8.4(a)-(c).
The panel ordered that respondent=s license be suspended for 180 days effective November 30, 2000.
The Grievance Administrator filed a petition for review on November 22, 2000 and respondent did not request a stay of discipline. On May 10, 2001, the Attorney Discipline Board issued an order increasing respondent=s discipline to a three year suspension. Costs were assessed in the amount of $706.34.
