1. Revocation; 2. Effective January 18, 2001. The hearing panel found, by a preponderance of the evidence, that the allegations in the formal complaint had been established, to wit: That respondent signed his client=s name to settlement checks without his client=s consent or authorization; failed to deposit his client=s settlement funds into a trust or IOLTA account; commingled some of the settlement funds by depositing them into his personal checking account; and misappropriated the settlement funds. Respondent=s conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.15(a)-(c); and 8.4(a)-(c).
The hearing panel ordered the revocation of respondent=s license to practice law in Michigan. Costs were assessed in the amount of $351.27.
