NOTICE OF SUSPENSION AND RESTITUTION (With Conditions)

Case Nos. 00-73-GA; 00-102-FA Issued: August 25, 2000 Paul E. Slavin, P-34293, Troy, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #68.

Suspension - 180 Days Effective August 23, 2000.

Based upon the stipulation of the parties, the panel found that the charges of misconduct in Formal Complaint 00-73-GA and Formal Complaint 00-102-FA were established, specifically: In two matters, respondent failed to respond to inquiries from his clients regarding the status of their matters; failed to keep his clients reasonably informed and abandoned and neglected his representation. Respondent also failed to pay a bill for court reporting services; failed to answer three requests for investigation and failed to answer a formal complaint. Respondent=s conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.103(C); MCR 9.104(1)-(4) and (7); MCR 9.113(A); MCR 9.113(B)(2); and the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4(a) and (b); 1.16(a) and (d); 8.1(b); and 8.4(a) and (c).

The hearing panel ordered that respondent=s license to practice law in the Michigan be suspended for 180 days with conditions relevant to the established misconduct. The panel also ordered respondent to pay the complainant court reporter $245.98 and restitution in an amount to be determined by the Attorney Grievance Commission. Costs were assessed in the amount of $368.55.
