1. Suspension - 180 Days 2. Effective April 14, 2000. On April 14, 2000, respondent entered a plea of guilty in the Oakland County Circuit Court to the felony of OUIL - third offense, MCR 257.6256(D). In accordance with MCR 9.120(B)(1), respondent=s license to practice law in Michigan was automatically suspended April 14, 2000, the date of the conviction.
On September 28, 2000, the Grievance Administrator filed a judgment of conviction pursuant to MCR 9.120(B)(3). In accordance with that rule, the Attorney Discipline Board ordered respondent to appear before Tri-County Hearing Panel #104 to show cause why a final order of discipline should not be entered. A public hearing was held on November 20, 2000 and the hearing panel ordered that respondent=s license to practice law be suspended for 180 days, retroactive to April 14, 2000, the date of his felony conviction. Costs were assessed in the amount of $136.99.
