The panel found, by default, that respondent committed professional misconduct, to wit: respondent failed to take action on behalf of his clients; failed to communicate with his clients regarding the status of their matters; failed to return unearned fees; failed to perform services for which he was retained; charged a client a fee for services connected with the Social Security Administration without authority to do so from the Social Security Administration; failed to respond to numerous requests for investigation by the Attorney Grievance Commission; and failed to file answers to the formal complaints.

The panel concluded that respondent's conduct violated MCR 9.103(C); MCR 9.104(1) - (5) and (7); MCR 9.113(A); MCR 9.113(B)(2); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct: 1.1(c); 1.3; 1.4(a); 1.4(a); 1.15(b); 3.2; 8.1(b) and 8.4(a)-(c).

The panel ordered that respondent be suspended from the practice of law for a period of 180 days. The panel further ordered respondent to make restitution in the amount of $2,170.00. Costs were assessed in the amount of $498.75.
