NOTICE OF REPRIMAND (By Consent)

Case No. 99-096-GA Steve B. Lockhart, P-32090, Detroit, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board, Tri-County Hearing Panel #19.

1. Reprimand. 2. Effective December 11, 1999. The respondent and the Grievance Administrator submitted a stipulation for consent order of discipline in accordance with MCR 9.115(f)(5). The stipulation was approved by the Attorney Grievance Commission and was accepted by a hearing panel. Respondent entered a plea of no contest to the allegations of professional misconduct contained in Formal Complaint No. 99-096-GA, to wit, as appointed appellate counsel in a criminal matter, respondent failed to provide his client with a copy of the brief on appeal; failed to provide his client with a copy of the Court of Appeals order, denying the delayed application for leave to appeal, failed to advise his client of the procedures for seeking further appellate relief; and failed to keep his client reasonably informed concerning the status of the matter. Respondent=s conduct was alleged to be in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4) and the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4(a); 3.2 and 8.4(a) and (c). The parties agreed that respondent should be reprimanded. Costs were assessed in the amount of $61.92.
