NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case No. 99-037-GA James L. Edmonds, P-36683, Flint, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #2.

The respondent failed to file a timely answer to Formal Complaint 99-037-GA. A supplemental complaint based upon the failure to answer was filed and consolidated. Respondent failed to answer that complaint. Defaults were entered as to both complaints and the allegations were deemed to be admitted. The complaints charged that the respondent=s license to practice law was suspended for 180 days, effective July 8, 1998, in a prior discipline proceeding, Grievance Administrator v James L. Edmonds, ADB Case Nos. 98-024-GA; 98-042-FA, but that in violation of the prior order of discipline, respondent failed to provide notice to his clients, tribunals and opposing counsel of his suspension, continued to hold himself out as an attorney, failed to honor a request to return a client file and failed to answer a formal complaint, all in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4) and (9); MCR 9.119(A)-(C) and (E) and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.16(d) and 8.4(a)-(c).

Respondent appeared personally before the panel and participated in the hearing on the appropriate level of discipline. The panel concluded that respondent=s misconduct warranted a further suspension of 180 days. Costs were assessed in the amount of $311.26.
