NOTICE OF REVOCATION WITH CONDITIONS Case Nos. 99-111-GA

L. Katharine Christopher, P-24040, West Bloomfield, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #73.

1) Revocation; 2) Effective September 20, 1999 Respondent was retained by two clients to represent them in their respective divorce matters. The panel found, by default, that respondent failed to communicate with the complainants; made misrepresentations to the complainants; neglected and abandoned their matters; and failed to refund unearned portions of the fees and failed to return the complainants' files upon request. The panel also found that respondent failed to answer two requests for investigation.

The panel concluded that respondent's conduct violated MCR 9.104(1) - (4) and (7); MCR 9.113(A); MCR 9.113(B)(2) and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct: 1.1(b) and (c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4(a); 1.16(d); 3.2; and 8.4(a) and (c).

The panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law in the State of Michigan be revoked and that respondent shall not be eligible to petition for reinstatement unless she has demonstrated her compliance with all conditions imposed in cases 99-43-GA; 99-68-FA; 98-183-GA; 98-208-FA; 98-134-GA; 98-153-FA; 98-079-GA; 98-097-FA; 98-083-GA and 98-109 FA, including but not limited to, conditions regarding restitution, the return of client files, and proof of respondent's mental and physical ability to practice law.\

Costs were assessed in the amount of $189.45. Respondent has been continuously suspended from the practice of law since February 20, 1998. See Notice of Suspension and Restitution dated September 11, 1998.
