1) Suspension - Two (2) Years; 2) Effective May 26, 1998.1. Respondent was paid $1,000 to file a Motion for Relief from Judgment on the complainant's behalf. The panel found that respondent neglected the matter, in violation of MCR 9.104(1) and (4); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.3; and 1.4(a) and (b).
The panel ordered that respondent be suspended from the practice of law for two years effective May 26, 1998, and make restitution to the complainant in the amount of $500 plus interest. Costs were assessed in the amount of $939.22. 1. Respondent's license to practice law in Michigan was also revoked twice, once effective February 25, 1995 and once effective April 1, 1995. Those revocations remain in effect.
