NOTICE OF REPRIMAND Case Nos. 98-54-GA; 98-73-FA Erwin F. Meiers, III, P-37717, Flint, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Genesee County Hearing Panel #5.
1) Reprimand; 2) Effective August 14, 1998. The complainant retained respondent to represent her in a divorce matter in Genesee County Circuit Court. Respondent entered a plea of no contest to allegations that during a settlement conference, he became extremely upset with the complainant and directed numerous obscenities at her. Immediately following the settlement conference respondent repeated those statements, and directed additional obscenities at her.
Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 6.5(a) and 8.4(a) and (c).
Formal Complaint 98-73-FA was dismissed based on the agreement of the parties.
The panel ordered that respondent be reprimanded. Costs were assessed in the amount of $164.75.
