NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case Nos. 97-81-GA; 97-115-FA; 97-117-GA Gregory L. Wilkins, P-44281, Detroit, Michigan, by the Attorney Discipline Board affirming Tri-County Hearing Panel #7's Order of Suspension.
1) Suspension - One Year; 2) Effective June 8, 1998.1 Respondent was retained to represent the complainant in personal injury matter. The panel found that respondent failed to file litigation on the complainant's behalf; entered into a contingent fee agreement which exceeded the 33% limit set forth in MCR 8.121; failed to answer two Requests for Investigation; and failed to timely answer a Formal Complaint.
The panel concluded that respondent's conduct violated MCR 9.103(C); MCR 9.104(1)-(4) and (7); MCR 9.113(A) and (B)(2); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.3; 1.5(a); 1.15(b); 1.16(d); 3.2; 8.1(b); and 8.4(a) and (c).
The panel ordered that respondent be suspended from the practice of law for one year. Costs were assessed in the amount of $810.48.
Respondent filed a petition for review but did not file a request for stay of discipline. In an order issued November 30, 1998, the Attorney Discipline Board affirmed the panel's order.
