On May 29, 1998, respondent was convicted, by guilty plea, of Conspiracy to Commit Mail Fraud Against the United States, and Defeat the Internal Revenue Service, contrary to 18 USC 1341; Conspiracy to Lauder Monetary Instruments, contrary to 18 USC 1956(a)(1 )(A)(I) and (B)(I); and Use of Interstate Commerce Facilities in the Attempted

Commission of Murder for Hire, contrary to 18 USC 1958. In accordance with MCR 9.120(B)(1), respondent was automatically suspended from the practice of law in Michigan effective May 29, 1998. See Notice of Automatic Interim Suspension dated February 18, 1999.

The Grievance Administrator filed a certified copy of the Judgment of Conviction on February 17, 1999. The matter was assigned to a hearing panel and respondent was ordered to show cause why a final order of discipline should not be entered. On January 10, 2000, the hearing panel unanimously ordered the revocation of respondent's license to practice law in the State of Michigan effective May 29, 1998, the date of the felony

conviction. Costs were assessed in the amount of $206.86.

1 Respondent was also suspended from the practice of law for non-payment of his annual dues to the State Bar of Michigan, effective February 20, 1998. That suspension remains in effect.
