NOTICE OF AUTOMATIC INTERIM SUSPENSION Case No. 99-23-JC James Lebron Champion, P-32854, San Antonio, Texas. Effective May 29, 1998. 1 On May 29, 1998, respondent was convicted, by guilty plea, of Conspiracy to Commit Mail Fraud Against the United States, and Defeat the Internal Revenue Service, contrary to 18 USC 1341; Conspiracy to Launder Monetary Instruments, contrary to 18 USC 1956(a)(1)(A)(I)and(B)(I); and Use of Interstate Commerce Facilities in the Attempted Commission of Murder for Hire, contrary to 18 USC 1958. In accordance with MCR 9.120(B)(1), respondent was automatically suspended from the practice of law in Michigan effective May 29, 1998, the date of the felony conviction.

On February 17, 1999, the Grievance Administrator filed a certified copy of the Judgment of Conviction. The Attorney Discipline Board will now enter an order directing respondent to show cause why a final order of discipline should not be entered.

1 Respondent was also suspended from the practice of law for non-payment of his annual dues to the State Bar of Michigan, effective February 20, 1998. That suspension remains in effect.
