NOTICE OF SUSPENSION Case No. 97-260-JC Steven E. Harrington, P-41920, Grand Rapids, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Kent County Hearing Panel #3.
1) Suspension - Five (5) Years; 2) Effective March 3, 1998. On March 31, 1997, respondent entered a plea of guilty in the 50th Judicial Circuit Court to one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct - Fourth Degree (misdemeanor) contrary to MCL 750.520E1A. The Grievance Administrator subsequently filed a Notice of Filing of Judgment of Conviction, pursuant to MCR 9.120. The Attorney Discipline Board issued an Order to Show Cause directing respondent to show cause why a final order of discipline should not be entered pursuant to MCR 9.120(B)(3), and directing him to appear before the panel on December 15, 1997. Respondent did not appear.
Following the show cause hearing, the panel ordered that respondent be suspended from the practice of law for a period of five (5) years, following the Attorney Discipline Board Opinion issued in Grievance Administrator v Carpenter, Case No. 93-261-GA (ADB 1995). Costs were assessed in the amount of $640.71.
