1) Revocation; 2) Effective December 4, 1997. Respondent was retained to represent the complainant on appeal to the circuit court from a final order entered by the Board of Review of the Michigan Employment Security Commission. Respondent Filed a claim of appeal on the complainant's behalf. Respondent admitted that he neglected the matter; made statements to the complainant which were false and were known by him to have been false at the time they were made; failed to comply with two prior Orders of Suspension;1. and failed to answer the Request for Investigation. Respondent also failed to appear at the disciplinary hearing.
Respondent's conduct was found to be in violation of MCR 9.103(C); MCR 9.104(1)-(4), (7) and (9); MCR 9.113(A) and (B)(2); MCR 9.119(E); MCL 600.916; MSA 27A.916; and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4; 3.2; 3.4(c); 5.5(a); 8.1(b); and 8.4(a)-(c).
The panel ordered that respondent's license to practice law in Michigan be revoked. Costs were assessed in the amount of $155.58. 1. Case Nos. 95-178-GA; 95-202-GA: Suspension 180 days effective October 2, 1995. Case Nos. 95-233-GA; 95-17-GA: Suspension three years effective August 1, 1996.
