NOTICE OF SUSPENSION (By Consent)
Case No. 97-29-GA Samuel Bell, P-10655, Farmington Hills, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #63.
1) Suspension - Ninety (90) Days; 2) Effective November 11, 1997. Respondent was retained to represent the complainant in personal injury litigation. Respondent entered a plea of no contest to allegations that he neglected the matter, resulting in the matter being dismissed for no progress; failed to file a motion to reinstate the matter; and failed to advise the complainant that the matter had been dismissed. Respondent's conduct was alleged to be in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.4(a) and (b); and 8.4(a) and (c); and Canons 1, 6 and 7 of the then- applicable Code of Professional Responsibility DR 102(A)(1), (5) and (6); DR 6-101(A)(3); and DR 7-101(A)(1)-(3).
The Grievance Administrator and the respondent stipulated that respondent be suspended from the practice of law for ninety days.1. Costs were assessed in the amount of $137.23. 1. Respondent has been continuously suspended from the practice of law in Michigan since November 6, 1993.
