NOTICE OF SUSPENSION AND RESTITUTION (By Consent)
Case No. 97-31-GA Georgia D. Manzie, P-42614, Detroit, Michigan, by Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel #29.
1) Suspension - ninety (90) days; 2) Effective June 4, 1997. Respondent was retained to represent the complainant in the appeal of her convictions for second degree murder and felony firearm. Respondent pled no contest to allegations that she neglected the matter; failed to maintain adequate communication with the complainant; and abandoned the representation.
Respondent's conduct was alleged to be in violation of MCR 9.104(1)-(4); and Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct 1.1(c); 1.2(a); 1.3; 1.4; 3.2; and 8.4(a) and (c).
The parties stipulated that respondent be suspended from the practice of law for ninety days and make restitution in the amount of $5,000. Costs were assessed in the amount of $75.46.
NOTE: Respondent has been continuously suspended from the practice of law in Michigan since April 3, 1996.
